X Rite U Display Pro - Retail vs OEM - work with 3rd parrt software?

I intend to buy the X Rite iPro Calibration device soon, but have come across some older threads that refer to a difference between the retail and OEM packages and whether the retail version works with 3rd party software.

It would seem, based on a reference I saw at Luminous Landscape, that X Rite does provide the license for 3rd party users for both versions.

However, before I spend, I would like to ensure that this is actually so, as some early references even for the EOSDIS III (latest) version referred to a hardware lock on the retail version that make it only compatible with X Rite software.

It seems a great and very accurate device but I will not purchase if it restricts software use (I will get the Spyder 4 instead).

Can anyone confirm whether the X Rite iPro Display Retail version, works with 3rd party software such as Argyll, BasicColor etc, ?

Much thanks again in advance!
