post processing: how far would you go?

I am a newbie photographer using fz200. i have been able to get good out-of-camera jpeg images ( in my standards) from my camera. Using silkypix, I discovered that image editing can really enhance my images. However, I have this impression that image editing is "cheating" ( just my impression and pardon me if i'm wrong). As a would-be photographer, i do not know the boundaries between a good photographer and a good computer operator. I also learned that if your image was not properly taken (wrong exposure, not focused, etc), no amount of post-processing can correct it.

image cropped using paint brush. no other editing was done...

saturation, colors, contrast adjustment, the full capability of silkypix 3 was used. i can say that this image has more impact than the first image.

Just for information, how far would you edit/post-process your images? What "aspect" (contrast, saturation, etc) of the image do you usually edit (if ever)?

thank you...
