Yes, that is correct. Don't put the BIN file inside a folder.  You could try putting the BIN file onto a completely empty SD card (that is, after deleting all the other folders on the card).

When I upgraded my ZS30 to v1.2 I first started with what I thought was a quite full battery (it showed 3 bars) but it wasn't "full enough".

I had to recharge the battery even further, to its maximum charge, and then I was able to do the upgrade.

As in the last post on that thread, maybe try further recharging the battery, and removing and replacing the SD card.  I hope that helps.
