Sometimes the first guess is the right one

Even a moderate AA filter leaves enough contrast at the Nyquist frequency to recover all detail a sensor with the same resolution but without a Bayer-AA filter could have captured. This has been proved by testing the Nikon D800 and D800E. The two cameras use the same sensor. The D800 has an AA filter; the D800E doesn't.

Would get different results for a very strong AA filter but all the cameras we're talking about probably don't have a moderately strong filter. However, given all the other variables of the testing process, it's unlikely you'd see any difference even with a very strong AA filter.
