DPreview compared the on-sensor PDAF to the conventional PDAF on the 70D:

It's quite interesting and looks like you could get rid of micro focus adjustments. Apparently not good for tracking subjects, but apart from that as accurate as CDAF?

Does anyone understand why it isn't as fast as the conventional PDAF?
