Nikon and Sony to show Medium Format Cameras at Expo

I'd love to see what Nikon/Sony can do

Medium Format Digital underperforms severely compared to 35mm digital. In theory you should be able to achieve better high ISO from MF compared to FX in the same way you can get better high ISO in FX compared to DX.

For whatever reason that isn't the case at all. Luminous Landscape did a DxOMark evaluation and noted that MF cameras perform five to 10 times worse than they should in theory. They theorized that this was due to lack of competition. Alternatively, in the crop sensor space, cameras were a lot closer to their theoretical limit because there was such intense competition. Nikon, Sony, and possibly Canon jumping into this sector should be exiting to see.

I'd be really interested in seeing D3s/D4 style low light performance scaled up to a larger sensor.
