You may have read that, but out today from SAR:

. . . the A7 and A7r cameras have an “optimized” sensor design to avoid issues on corners. The new microlens alignment and gapless design has been developed specifically for the E-mount FF cameras. Similar to what Leica has done for their Leica M FF series. The performance of Full Frame lenses (also third-party lenses via adapter) is said to be improved over the current Sony NEX-VG900 sensor.
