GX-7 IBIS - Can't Tell It's Working In The Viewfinder - But It Is
Tried out a GX-7 today with my Oly 75/1.8 at Glazers here in Seattle.
Turning IBIS on I could not tell it was working while the shutter was half-pressed. The image in the viewfinder was not any steadier with IBIS turned on. I assume this is normal - does the IBIS kick in only when the image is taken or are the corrections not large enough to be seen in the EVF?
However, I could certainly tell it was working when viewing the images at full resolution.
At 1/30 second w/o IBIS images were noticeably blurry, with IBIS on it was way sharper.
1/30 s @ f/4.5 was just ever so slightly less sharp than a shot taken at 1/160 @ f/2.
So maybe two stops or so - good enough for me.
Didn't have time to try any other shutter speeds.
Overall pretty impressed with the handling of the GX-7. As soon as I can get a black version I'll likely be replacing my GH-2 (or handing my GH-2 down and selling my G5).
