Interesting and very direct comparison.

Obviously there are minute differences revealed here under extreme magnification (as there would be with any camera).  But these differences are so tiny and so subtle that they would not be visible in any print under, say, a mile wide.

Honestly, folks, if you're bothered enough to let these tests put you off purchasing either camera (or continuing to use one if you already have it), I'd recommend switching from photography to scruitinising the results from the LHC for signs of dark matter particles. Your attention to fine details would be invaluable in that task....

I'd strongly suggest that any angst driven obsession be focused on the artistic side of photography - all these modern cameras offer absolutely fantastic image quality.  The differences between them - even if discernible at all - are simply character, not flaws and virtues. When will the agonising all end, it's no longer 1998 and we are not battling with 1MP sensors....
