Why is photography now considered a terrorist act?

One of the posters of the "If You See Somethinng, Say Something" campaign had a very normal-looking photographer as its subject. I am not sure how much this was disseminated via television, as I am rather immune to the urge to watch TV, but I saw this image often enough via other means.

To some extent, I think it is all too easy to demonize inanimate objects, and to associate people who use these objects with evil: cameras with long or wide lenses, guns, and motorcycles come to mind as three examples.

I wear a badge and pistol, and, primarily with 7D cameras, with 10-22mm and 100mm Macro L lenses, shoot evidentiary images at night, which incorporates elements of portrait, macro, still life, landscape, architecture, PJ, and occasional action.
