Actually I prefer the 135mm for tight portraits.  But I haven't had one since the film days.  I found that much less then that had to be handled carefully or your subjects would start looking like Pinnochio.  I use my 105vr mostly for butterflies these days but will probably get the Sigma 150 when I don't have something else to spend the money for.  The 105vr still does well in a pinch and if other lenses are sharper I wouldn't want them because I really don't want to see what's in their pores.  Sometimes the sharpest lens doesn't make the best portrait lens.
