Why do so few cameras offer a double exposure feature or mode?

Beautiful photos!  Thank you for the nice explanation.  I agree with what you said that doing so in the camera provides a much more natural feel and the element of uncertainty.  I would never do anything as complex as your art, but I would like to play around with some ideas like that.  Thanks for the reply and the awesome photos, I will be checking out more of your work!
