I vigorously disagree. Learning is the most important part. Learning from those with knowledge, experience, wisdom and talent can help us get to the joyous part of photography. Having fun, Taking good photos and creating memories. From there we can progress to taking great photos and providing joy to others through our photography.

For me, the most rewarding part is being able to take a photo that I find pleasing and would be proud sharing with others.

to accomplish the above with no knowledge of photography or the full capabilities of my camera could take longer than I have to live. And what makes you think we are all good teachers? A poor and unknowledgable teacher is just that...makes no difference if we are teaching ourselves or someone else.
