It's supposed to be brighter in the dress shot, it's a backlit shot.

In the first shot you could darken the bright wooden panels in post. Alternatively flagging the lights with some board would have stopped it falling on the background and eliminated the problem in camera. Lastly, you could have increased the shutter speed to 1/200th (which I believe is the sync speed for that camera). That would have slightly reduced the ambient light from the background.
