Re: Joe, my spray coating fade test results....

Bob,

I can add that the Cone InkThrift dye inks even said as being encapsulated do fade fairly quickly too, the first test prints I made back in April (about 5 months) on Epson Premium Glossy have started fading visually too, especially the greys and they were ( and still are ) not even directly exposed to strong ambient light or facing windows. One was partially covered by another one and I can clearly see the junction between covered and not covered parts.

As the pigment inks do fare that well, for photo prints, I now don't really see the incentive to go dye plus coating trouble and cost, your test comforts me to move back to plain pigments.

By the way is the magentaish bar just above the blue one supposed to be red ?

I first thought my monitor had drifted but then I saw your perfectly red annotations, as I have a full set of IR's IRK4 nano pigment inks that I wanted to use, I now wonder if the red is really that bad ?
