The 70-300 is far better as a "walk around" zoom in any event, and at least at the web sized images you posted , and equally as sharp.

To Ian the 70-200 f4 seems to be just the best - we've seen some of his Pictures, none of yours.

If you want to start a "What is best" thread, then do it. Imo, the 70-300 is preferable because I'm lazy only.
