EOS M + the new EF S 55-250mm IS STM

My new lens arrived today, coincidentally with updates for the EOS Utility and DPP with the new lens correction added also made available today, for download. This means that lens aberration correction will be made in-camera (if enabled) for the new lens.

The lens is incredibly light and small given you get 400mm (equivalent) and thus works well with the EOS M, and as advertised, focuses silently (as opposed to the old version) and fast. It is supposed to be very sharp, and improved over the old version in that dimension too (which was very good).

Interestingly, the other new feature of the lens - that it works in Movie Servo AF, for smooth, silent continuous movie use - only works with the SL1, T5i, 70D and the EOS M. This reminds us that the M is the same generation as the relatively new T5i and SL1, and it is unlikely that the M would be updated, say, to Wifi and the 70D focus system, before the 'Rebels' are.

I expect to have some zoo video in a few days, using this lens.
