Yes ... that's why I posted my own shots with the 55-300. Something was definitely wrong with the shot used for comparison with the 300 f/4. The poster came to realize that soon after posting.
........I usually get great sharp shots all across the range. Perhaps this is just another example of difference between lenses still, or different lenses on different cameras.
... or maybe both. Hard to know. I lucked out and got a great sample with my initial purchase.
