Few nature shots with the GX7+20mm
3

Few boring shots in the forest. Not my typical lens/venue combination - 20mm for nature - but that's all I have access to right now. (I prefer 40-150 (and occasionally WA) for the nature.) OOC JPEGs (scaled to 1600px), mostly shot with the vivid colro setting.

Gallery on DPReview. Few shots right here:

Old post with lots of numbers.

Notes.

EVF and wearing camera on the neck strap. EVF protrudes too much and the eye piece is ruberized: catches cloting all the time, EVF unfolds on its own, etc. Was expected and doesn't bother me since I have no habit of wearing cam on neck strap.

Location of the on/off switch on the mode dial. I did flip it accidentally not once. The mode dial (and the dial around the shutter button too) are pretty stiff. If the dial would loosen up with time, wouldn't be a problem at all. Camera starts pretty fast anyway.

Unusual location of the shutter release. Got used to it rather quickly.

EVF's eye sensor sensitivity. In practical usage, I haven't noticed any difference between the High and Low setting. (But I'm still on firmware 1.0. No card reader in the house can SDXC and to update the firmware I need to put it on the SD card. And only other SD card I have is at least 8 years old already.)

LCD is glossy and gets real useless real fast in good natural lighting. (Same story as with the smartphone screens.) EVF really helps in the sunny weather (which we were blessed with today, first time in two weeks).

Minor design quirk which was already highlighted in the reviews: can't open port door, without unfolding the LCD. More: can't close the port door if LCD is folded.

Still no micro-/mini-USB port. Camera requires proprietary USB cable. Supplied one is black, unmarked and short. How long before I'd loose it? (Probably should see if one can use Wi-Fi to transfer photos to the PC.)

Android app from Panasonic works. Pairing via NFC works too. (I have Samsung S3mini.) The interaction between the cam and the phone is somewhat sluggish, but much much better than the IR shutter release I used before.

RAW file size: 20MB.

Fun fact. The GX7, with the 20mm mounted, fits perfectly into the lens pouch of the 43's original PL25.
