Don't worry about Olympus

Their goal is to attract CaNikon photographers in the m4/3 system, and given the E-M1 buzz and coverage (despite it's subpar video features...), they could well succeed. And like Terada said, Panasonic has already nice MFT cameras for video.

Sadly, many in the CaNikon group do actually want good video, and as tech advances, so would the number of average Joe's who want their camera to do second duty as a video camera. Seriously, who wants to carry around 'another' device just for video? It's already becoming a hindrance for many to carry a camera over their cell phone. DSLR's and mirrorless at least has a large leg up on stills and depending on the camera, video as well. Video is becoming more and more important and as we see in the camera industry they are trying to get into that genre.

If Oly just leaves it alone, they will fall behind others and become more niche then it is already. Personally I want Oly to become a hugely successful camera company. Same for m43.

Don't worry about Olympus. They know what they are doing. Since the E-1, people have predicted Olympus demise. They are still alive and well, and managed to get more attention than any other camera makers with the E-M1. I don't recall any Panasonic camera drawing the same attention, even if they have faboulous video specs.

Moreover, the E-M1 isn't for the average Joe, and the video specs of the E-M1 are more than excellent enough for the average Joe (except for the average Joe who is gear and specs addicted, who don't need but WANT those specs).

And those who want a single stills/video camera have a great solution : Panasonic!

Isn't life beautiful in m4/3 system?
