Repair or Replace my R3000?

Advice requested on this unusual circumstance.

My Epson R3000 has a faulty ink supply system and VISA is picking up the cost of repair.  I have two choices:

1 - Have Epson repair the unit under what is called a "whole unit repair."

2 - Receive a cash buyout of $554.  With a cash buyout, I pay $135 to cover the diagnostic work to the repair facility, which leaves me $419.  I also keep the printer and the ink.  The printer has no value to me, but the ink does.

With #2, I'd get a new printer -- possibly another R3000.  Currently, they cost $600 after rebate.  I'm leaning toward this option.

Comments/insights are appreciated.
