That's funny. From the 2013 financial report, Oly said that

"Full year mirrorless sales up 15% and 4Q sales up 25% due to strong sales of OM-D"

And if we look at the Q1, 2014 report we can see that while sales have decreased 14%, operating income has increased, presumably because Olympus is selling more, higher end cameras, and fewer compacts and cheapies.

What are you basing this claim on?

Consolidated Financial Results for the Fiscal Year Ended March 31, 2013

Under Imaging Systems Business
Consolidated net sales in the Imaging Systems Business amounted to ¥107,638 million (down 16.3% year on year), while operating loss amounted to ¥23,073 million (compared with an operating loss of ¥10,760 million in the previous fiscal year).

And less not forget this,

Olympus denies reports that it is ceasing DSLR production

What do you think could have prompted the change?

Even though they cut off small cameras productions, and laid off by thousands, I don't see how possibly they can compete with full frame cameras at the listed price. Something must happen in the coming years.

But neither of those say much about the OM-D (or mirrorless line in general).

Oly moved towards upmarket mirrorless to move away from the problems of unprofitable compacts and DSLRs.'s gear's gear list
