Sean Reid just posted his comparison of these two lenses on his X-Pro1. He covers mechanical operation, AF, and of course image quality. Both lenses do a good job. His bottom line may surprise some of you though. I'm sticking with my Fuji 35. His is a subscription site, so I won't divulge the details. Those of you who do subscribe may wish to take a look.

Who's Sean Reid and are you his advertising agent? Pay to read his review? Nay.

Stop with all that hate... the OP didn't seem to have sly intents.
Though yeah, I'm not going to bother with a paying site.

OK, OK.. from previous threads I was under the impression there were a lot of subscribers to Reid Reviews on this forum. Thought that those forum members who are subscribers would like to know that the comparison was posted. Now that I've read the replies, I would gladly remove the original post if I could. NO, I'm not an agent for Sean Reid. His site just happens to publish some of the best, objective reviews on the net, that's all.

Hi Al,

Yes, sorry about the tease. Sean had a lot of positive comments about both lenses, but some of the criteria that are important to me, like edge sharpness, etc. resulted in my decision to stick with the Fuji 35mm f/1.4 lens.

I agree 57even about the Fuji 35. I've found my sample to to be a very fine lens. And actually, after reading Sean Reid's review, there is no reason for me to consider the Zeiss 32. I generally like Zeiss glass, but recent releases have not always met my expectations. I sold some of my newer Zeiss lenses for my Nikon because they didn't measure up IMO. I only have the Zeiss 35 f/2 for the Nikon mount now. When I visited the Zeiss folks at PhotoPlus last year, I was looking forward to the release of the Touit models for my Fuji's, but now I'll pass, at least on their 32mm version.

ok AL

here you are

A very surprising result, the best is not the one you think..

as with the alphabet, same order!!

With lots of photos to show how it is better, in corners, regarding CA, etc..

just need to know your alphabet to identify the winner.

As usual, sean makes a fascinating review

i just renews my subsciption, 32$ for one year

For avaricious ones (are there some over here ?) you pay your daily newspaper, don't you ??

Cheers

bob

I do think so :-) that's true at least in US and old Europe

It's just a matter of IQ (information quality)

cheers

Where is the "hate"? That word sure gets watered down these days.

Maybe someone will tell Edward Snowden what Sean Reid said and he'll leak it to us.

This is silly. If you're a subscriber you don't needs a "heads-up". So are you advertising his site?

Just spill the beans. If you don't want to provide all the details don't, revealing the results won't kill his revenue stream.

I completely agree.

I'm a subscriber and I'm sure that revealing the overall conclusion won't kill anybody. It's a very long and complete review with lots of information and photo compariosons.

In the end he says that he preferrers the Fuji, but says that it's a personal thing and others may prefer the Zeiss.

Even knowing the final conclusion,I'd still want to read the whole review 'cause it's very interesting.

Actually; he's quite an accomplished photographer and "gear head" who has taken the time and passion to document and give considerate and lengthy reviews on a number of pieces of photographic gear. He's usually "dialed down" and gives his pleasant findings.

As I don't have a ton of friends who collect Zeiss, Leica and Fuji gear; Reid is often the go-to place to see something throughly reviewed.

He hits with far less extreme passion as some (Ken R) and is a little more methodical in his approach than some of the others whom simply advertise on their websites.

He also has a number of published articles on other sites (like The Luminous Landscape) so you can read and learn his style and approach.

Seriously, if you are considering gear, paying $32 or so for one year access to everything he's written is not as bad as it sounds. And I trust him up there with some of the more notable gear reviewers.

So yeah - he charges. And no slimy auto-renewals.

If you've never read a Reid article you, well, should probably stop reading forum content and actually read something worthwhile - start with "The Luminous Landscape" and work from there.
