Re: Canon badly need an affordable fast wide prime for EF-S rebel dslr

Nikon has an affordable 35mm f/1.8 for $199, as does Sony with a $199 DT 35mm f/1.8 SAM. Canon is the only major DSLR maker without an affordable fast wide prime.

The ancient 35mm F/2 is very old, it uses an ARC motor that is also very LOUD like somoene scratching a blackboard with a finger nail. I bought one and sold it within a month.

It is time for a new Fast Wide Prime. I would love to see an EF-S version of Canon 22mm STM for rebel dslr.

The 35mm would be a good lens to update to a more affordable version- agreed. The SL1 is such a good camera, all it needs are some smaller lighter affordable lenses to go with it. Pity that the M lenses don't work, the 22mm is real cool.
