Tough call Kwick1. If weight is the most important factor the E-M1 is going to be a very good option. Like you said it won't approach some of the abilities of the A99 but the question again will be how much of a trade off are you willing to accept. I shoot the E-M5 along with my Sonys. It is an amazing camera and for travel it is fantastic. If travel is your main use for a camera and you want light I would say the decision is easier. If the E-M1 is out by the time you go definitely try one out for size...it looks to be the size of an E-510 which is a nice mid size camera. The A99 is a beautiful camera and the results from it look great but it really comes down to what you feel is good enough for you. One thing I will say for the Olys is the IBIS is excellent and I have not had any issues in poor weather so far. Good luck with your decision!
