D800 Auto-fire when subject comes into focus?

My Nikon F90 film camera had a very cool feature where the camera would activate when something came into focus; for example, let’s say you wanted to get a hummingbird at a flower. You would set the camera on a tripod, get someone to hold their hand where the bird would be and then you’d set focus (manually of course); after the hand was removed, you’d hit the shutter button. Nothing would happen until the camera detected that something had come into focus and it would then fire.

I’m looking for this in my D800 but cannot find it. Is this a feature that has been dropped over the years? I’ve only just now wanted to use the feature (have since been through D70,200 & 300, have no idea whether these had it)

Cheers.
