For the record I print up to 17x22. Not always but for specific purposes. I tried the RX100 and liked It a lot! If size and a zoom were critical for me I would own one but low light, cropping and the ability to produce large prints is important.

Some  cameras are made for specific uses while others need to be able to deal with the entire range of conditions you may face during a shoot. I carry two cameras with me when the purpose is photography because the RX1 can't do it all, but what it does it does superbly.

I can see the OP's point; that if you were only going to print up to 8x10 many cameras would suffice. Personally, I could see differences in images from the RX100 and the RX1 on my monitor. 99% of my pictures are shot in Raw, and yes the dynamic range of the RX1 is unbelievable.
