How can Oly EM-1 compete when FF DSLR with L zoom goes for $2300?

A compatriot shoots the 24-105mm with some current top FF Canon (too many models for me to keep up with).  
No doubt at all, it does a good job, but sometimes he just shakes his head and openly marvels what the "little" camera can do. He wants one as a second system.
I warned him that he might use the bazooka less and less - he sighs.  
We take pictures, instead of pixel peeping.  It bores me.

While you might have a far better than average copy, HIS 24-105mm is nothing to write home about, either and another guy I know shoots one that is about the same.  You DO hear varied reports about that lens.
