NX300 and sleep mode confusion

Being new to the NX system (NX300) I don't know whether this is due to a system software bug, or if it's a configuration error on my part.

Let's say I set my camera to aperture priority f/8.0 and exposure compensations -1 EV.  If I turn my camera off manually and then on again, the camera is set to exactly this.  As I would expect it to.

But if the camera goes to sleep mode by itself, and I wake it by half pressing the shutter, the camera is reset to no exposure compensation and whatever is the wide open aperature of the lens I'm using (i.e. f/3.5 on the wide end of the 20-50mm).  I have a feeling it forgets other stuff too, such as drive and AF mode.  This is both annoying and unexpected.  Is this a configuration error on my part, i.e. is there a menu option where I can set it to remember settings when going to sleep?
