Rumour concerning moveable sensor to focus-SR5
3

Yet another rumour which echoes some previous ones. This new camera is said to have a sensor which can slide backwards & forwards in order to achieve focus without adjusting the lens. This is a system which Contax first used in the AX film camera although it has to be said it was a method also used widely in field cameras a long time ago.

If this is true then it could solve several problems at one fell swoop. It does not require the mechanical linkage to focus a variety of lenses from legacy sources including older Sony & Minolta screw drive types. For it to work successfully it needs a smooth , swift action & an algorithm which can reliably interpret data collected from a suitable PDAF adapted sensor.

This would make focussing faster & quieter & more reliable for a wide range of lenses
