Re: From prime to zoom

After using primes for years (Nikon aps-c and m4/3) I switched to zoom as my walk around lens. The new Panasonic 14-42 II did the trick. It has good IQ, is light and fairly compact. It shows me pictures I could not take in the past due to the hustle of changing lenses or simply lack of the needed focal length. Now I only change lenses when the light gets to low (then I take the 20mm 1.7).

Are there others who gave up their objrections (weight, size and IQ) against zooms?

My first experience is film rangefinder and primes.

My second experience is film SLR and primes.

My third experience is digital P&S   -  fixed ZOOM.

My current experience is M43 with mixture of zooms and primes: 2 zooms and 2 primes + 2 legacy primes.

My preferences: zoom attached and with a prime in my pocket.

My next lens will be prime, and I think I'll be settled for a few years
