The Canon MG6220 has a fifth dye ink (grey). I think that is a factor.  I expect that unit to become a "classic," as the newer models lack the second bottom cassette and even the touch-top doesn't seem as functional.  If Ethernet isn't important to you, you can go with less expensive models.

Epson has a sharp demarcation, I believe.  NX and Workforce-4 DuraBrite pigment inks. I think Epson envisions these users doing more text and graphics.

R/RX series (R380 was quite popular), Artisan, now Expression-6 Claria dye inks.  More for photos.
