"Never in my lifetime did I think I'd side with the Russians over our President. Obama has to be nuts to continually stir the Middle East pot. Dammit, leave them to their own business."

This comment struck a chord with me. As someone who served proudly in the United States Air Force, we're not the good guys anymore. Putin is right, we're headed towards a train wreck and the US military is stretched too thin and Putin knows it.

"Stretched too thin?" No way.

Not trying to be disresptful, but you have no clue

There is indeed a line in the sand and our arrogant President and his puppet masters just might be foolish enough to cross it.

But a new strategy is needed. Fact is our military is head and shoulders above the rest.

The technology gap isn't there anymore as it was in the first gulf war. Russia and China are on par with the USA.

What's needed moving forward is overwhelming force when our interests are clearly at stake. Syria is not it. We should stay out.

I'm in total agreement.

Nation building does not work. Who are the good guys in the middle east? Almost none of 'em. Fvckem. But when our interests are being threatened we can and should strike quickly and big. We can do this indefinitely until offenders get the picture.

The stakes are too big to "strike quickly and big".  The next major conflict is going to be much different than any conflit the world has ever seen.  China, Russia, or America getting into a conflit will involve a nuclear exchange.  The war would be fought and won/lost in a day.
