Well Kent is right, there will be an even number of reflections, what many people however don't realize is that some reflections can be quite holographic in nature and appear only in a narrow viewing angle and as a far far larger object that actually can get missed while looking at all the other reflections. Also 2 reflections can be quite close together making it hard to say if its 1 or 2 reflections. Ron you did nothing wrong, you likely just missed a reflection that was hard to find. its not an easy or always precise way of determining the number of elements. Kent there is no reason to call a person straight-out wrong without considering the complexities in the task and why only 7 might be counted instead of 8. Indecently i looked at my Tamron 1.4x PZ-AF and found it quite hard to find the 8th reflection, and in some angles i couldn't.
