The March on Washington - 50th Anniversary

One of the largest rallies for human rights in US history, known as The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, took place on 28 August 1963. Learn more in Wikipedia:

For the past week and this coming week, there are many events commemorating its 50th anniversary. Saturday, 24 August, included a commemorative March on Washington, with at least tens of thousands of participants from all over the US and the world. I made it there for just a few hours during the afternoon. Here are a few pics.

There was a police presence, of course, but it was not obtrusive.

Thar big rock is part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial

Many marchers with many causes, and everyone got along with each other just fine.

Not surprisingly, there were many references to Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech of 1963.

We still have a dream.

Yes, several US states are making voting more difficult for the poor, minorities, and immigrants.

A dream worth dreaming.

Thanks for looking. There are more of my afternoon pics here:
