Hi again... :-),

In my experience the K01 decides what to focus on, in a variable way. Is this normal and is there a setting to use a fixed focus point in auto/green mode ?

In Av or Tv or other modes i can choose what kind of focus point and it's even possible to place the focus point, fixed, off-centre on the display etc.. But ... NOT in AUTO/GREEN mode, in my experience, or....

am i overlooking something ????

Please advise and thanks in advance.

Yes you are overlooking the "memo" (within the Focussing Section) on page 96 of the manual

"• You can also change the setting from [Autofocus Method] (p.72) in [AF/MF

Settings] of the [A Rec. Mode 1] menu.

• [Autofocus Method] is fixed to face detect in Auto mode, or when in (Portrait)/. (Night

Scene Portrait)/ (Kids) of SCN mode.

• To take pictures when the subject is not in focus, set [10. AF Release

Options] (p.76) to [Release-priority] in the [A Custom Setting 2] menu."
