Viltrox JY-620 + JY-670 SpeedLites, FC-16 2.4G Wireless Flash Trigger
Aug 23, 2013
First, after shooting for many years (around 35 years), I've must admit myself not a big fan of any TTL flash. I've know SpeedLite flashgun was a very innovative way of flash lighting for certain reason, but I've always choosed to shot my flash pictures with the flash in full manual control, even with a Canon E-TTL SpeedLite.
Since NX300 camera is so lovely and compact, using it with a gigantic GN50+ SpeedLite was way out of question, not to my personal taste. Also, attaching such gigantic and overweight SpeedLite on top of NX300 will ruined the beautiful images it.
Has been searching high and low for the past many days looking for a high GN but still look compact SpeedLite to use on my beloved NX300 camera. Has searched manual flash from brands like Nissin, YognNuo, Triopo, Oloong, CY, Sunpak.. finally found one that come with powerful GN and yet still compact in size.
Its' Viltrox JY620 full manual flash that has a GN of 40 @ 50mm under ISO100. One thing good about this flash was it does not come with zoom ability.
"Wasn't that a bad choice?" you might wonder. Well to me, it save me from,
- Constantly need re-calculating the F=GN/D, D=GN/F or any combination of the GN/F/D thingy whenever I reset the flash zooming.
- Used the wrong flash zoom and lens focal length combination resulted vignetting and un-desire flash power on the shooting object.
Since I had make the choice, without any hesitating, I've placed order on,
- 1x, Viltrox JY-620 Full Manual Flash.
- 1x, Viltrox FC-16 FSK 2.4GHz Wirelesss Flash Trigger with 1 transmitter and 2 receivers.
Below my initial results by having fun with the 2x Viltrox Manual & Macro Ring flashes,
