Looking at the old Fujitsu architecture from 2006 I disagree.  You could still do it that way but why would you do the image output block and overlays in Verilog as opposed to coding it and running it on the ARM processor today?

Plus looking at the Expeed 2 firmware information there's access to the Liveview frame buffer and TFT screen memory in the address map.


Nobody is working on the Nikon 1 firmware so it's unlikely we'll get a hack.
