Olympus MZ 12-40 f2.8 now confirmed

I've held off buying the Panny 12-35 in order to see what Oly brings to the table.

Looks like it could be something special.

43rumours.com says it has confirmation that Oly will introduce a 12-40 f2.8.

It will be announced with the E-M1, which means within the next three weeks.

The specs are mostly known, except for the weight. Personally, weight is one of the biggest issues for me. If it's lighter than the Panny and with better IQ, it's a no-brainer for me despite not having IS.

The following is cut-and-pasted from 43rumours:

12-40mm with constant f/2.8 aperture (Source: Egami).
39.081mm – f = 12.249 focal length
Fno. 2.88
30.85 ° – 2ω = 85.27 angle
BF 16.194 – 16.192mm
131.16mm – 140.24 Length
Mod 0.35m
13 images in 11 groups lens configuration
5 three aspherical surface
3 ED glass sheets

I don’t know the price yet but I have been told the quality s higher than the Panasonic 12-35mm X lens. Olympus is expected to announce the E-m1 and the new lens around September 10-11.
