However, never one to duck a direct question, I'll give you a direct answer: no, I do not own any mFT equipment. And? I mean, does that have any bearing on the veracity of my comments?
In a way, yes. Because if you would have owned and worked with an MFT camera, you'd learn with the time that, depending on what you do and your priorities, a 75mm f/1.8 does sometimes behave like a 150mm f/1.8. That is tha magic of MFT.
Dammit! I always forget to figure in the "magic".
Well, you should. That what makes the difference....
Heh! The other day, my wife wanted to buy a lottery ticket, and I said, "You know the chance of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 being the numbers is the same as any other numbers, right? Would you choose 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 as your numbers?"
"Of course not. Those numbers would never happen -- they don't have the extra 'oomph' of the numbers I'll pick."
It is funny, that is exactly what my wife would say and yet, that didn't disturb her from becoming one of the top photographer in the UK. She is an FRPS and part of her work was chosen by the British Media Archive as part of the national art treasure.
Impressive!
Oh and would you believe it?, she knows nothing about equivalence...
Knowing the Earth is round doesn't help anyone get to work any faster, although some people, like pilots, make good use of the information, and others just think it's worth knowing.
Bringing it back to photography, think of all the times people complained about "too many pixels", and yet, the best performing mFT (and FF) sensors are the ones with the highest pixel counts (and, incidentally, the ones with the least noise, too). Of course, this does nothing to help you take a better photo, although it might play a role in your purchase decisions.
I never disagreed.
You know how some people would choose the larger, heavier, and more expensive 75 / 1.8 over the Sigma 60 / 2.8? Does that mean they'll get better photos? Well, it's something like that.
well, that is what I call a matter of personal needs and preference. For what I am doing, most of the time ill take better photos with the 75mm1,8 than the 60mm 2.8. Not because the lens is better but because it is 1.3 stops fastEr. That for me is a very important factor that is worth the weight and price difference between these two lenses.
