Re: Samsung NX20 vs Sony A58

The Sony A58 is obviously a great camera, although there are many great cameras out there. I switched from an Olympus Four Thirds to Samsung. My Olympus was hardly big and took beautiful photos in good light, but its resolution was pretty low and its low light performance often seemed to lead me to disappointing images. I also had the Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens, which when it focussed produced amazing images, but didn't focus very often. I thought about upgrading to Micro Four Thirds, meaning the Sigma would be pretty hopeless, apparently, so that meant getting a similar native MFT lens as well as a camera body. The cost really added up. The Samsung system seemed appealing, with a great lens selection, and a good deal on eBay came along for an NX200 so I went for it. It came with the 30mm, and I got a 16mm for $50(!), and I just got the 45mm, so mostly replicating the Olympus set-up I had, all of which I sold.

The size it the most appealing thing for me, and the inexpensive and fantastic lenses, relative to FT and MFT. I just stopped using my Olympus once I got the NX200 even though I hung onto it for many months, so I took that as a sign.
