I agree a focus rail is indispensable with the 60mm, I got the cheap ebay one. I don't get this "defeats the purpose" stuff.

I use mine for focus stacking. Here's stack of 14 frames. These objects are about the size of my little fingernail.

Very nice stacked macro, ( Geranium?) I have never successfully done a stack using Combine ZP. I use the same 4 way rails as Paul Till with a different badge & they have a quality build.

I couldn't get good results with Combine SP, I just use PS CS6.
