XZ1 flat surface

I usually use a flat surface when I want to hold a camera steady for a long exposure or leave it sitting for a timer self portrait.

The XZ-1's tripod socket protrudes from the base by about 1mm which means it does not rest easy on a flat surface. The weight of the extended barrel and glass causes it to lean forwards and point down towards the ground.

Any tricks for getting the XZ-1 to sit flat on a flat surface?
