If you can get one split from a kit at the right price then yes as it not only adds 18 and 55mm but IS as well .. the prob with the 18mm is that it bulks up the camera (becomes a lot more cumbersome than a G1X with infinately worse handling) but to carry with you in a bag in case you need the extremes it`s worth having at the right price

the 22mm is two stops faster than the zoom is at 22mm so the IS is negated to a large degree and speed stops action were IS doesn`t but in some circumstances (moving vehicles etc) IS would prove more useful so  good to have both , I have a G1X so only got the 18-55 as it was a good price and easy to take along - also it`d be easier to sell the old M body with an 18-55 on than a body only when the new models come out
