Hello,

need protection filter for EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM

Plan is to buy Marumi DHG Super Lens Protect 82mm Filter.

Maybe someone own this filter and can answer couple of questions:

1. does genuine Canon cap fits on this filter?

2. additional vignetting on 16mm angle??

Thanx in advance

FWIW:

If you use a lens hood, the only thing a "protection filter" can do it guard against the confidence that your lens will perform as the optical designer intended. Ask any of them about "protecting" a lens with any filter, and watch a grown man cry. They want no glass-air surfaces and gaps between the lens and the subject.

Modern coatings are tough, and a little dust on the lens surface will not affect your photos unless you're shooting into the sun - maybe not even then. A lens brush is cheaper, and keeps your lens operating the way it was designed. Learn to keep your fingers off lens surfaces, use lens caps when the lens in not in use. All better than the best "protection filter.

Protection filters are one of the camera retailer's oldest rackets. Same category as "undercoating" used to be in the auto dealer trade until the FTC cracked down on it. Like "protection filters," they introduced new issues that the owner didn't appreciate...

would you use a Polarizer or an ND filter on your lens? Yes or No?
