Advantages of using just one lens:

1) less times changing lenses means lower likelihood of dust getting on the sensor

2) I can change from wide angle to zoom within a second or two. With two lenses, that would take a good 30-60 seconds at best.

Agree with the first point completely. Why would you carry around a large heavy zoom? I use one lens on my RX1... 35mm... of course it does not come with any other options... but who needs mechanical options when God gave me a creative mind to figure out how to make the opportunity work?

My camera with the 18-200 zoom isn't much heavier than it is with the 18-55 zoom.  I'm willing to put up with a little extra weight to have the freedom to shift from 18 mm to 180 mm on a moment's notice.
