Is there really that much change between images taken with any camera and lens?? How many look forward to seeing a nice picture without critique of some sort.

Good question. I've shot with high-end APS DSLRs and now my good system is a GH3 with the two f/2.8 lenses and several others. But today I was shooting with my Canon SX280HS, definitely not in the class of those above but still producing very pleasing and usable results -- and with the advantages of taking it everywhere in a belt case and having 25-500 mm effective reach.

Sometimes I pixel peek, but mostly I just enjoy the full-screen view. And, on that scale, most current cameras can do a very good job with daylight shots.
