why has the 16mm f2.8 got such a bad rep?

I have some old pixel-peeing shots...

Way back when I first bought the 16mm lens, I posted a thread with reduced-size shots as well as 100% crops - unfortunately mine were all also high ISO to very high ISO samples, rather than daylight - so if anything, consider mine to be worst-case scenarios - high ISO and wide open apertures indoors:

I have been quite happy with the little lens, and though not a pixel-peeper, it stands up fine for anything I've needed it for, and can print large, sharpens throughout the frame when stopped down, usable wide-open in a pinch, and particularly well paired with the ECU1.
