Cable to LCD is failing

Welcome to one of the pitfalls of articulated LCD's. The cable that routes through the hinge gets twisted and flexed repeatedly and eventually breaks. I managed to fix the cable in my PowerShot S2 IS by splicing in a new wire to replace the one that was broken.

When you flip the screen all the way around and rotate it back against the body the cable is twisted and stretched to the maximum stress, not surprising to see the problem in that configuration. The problem will get worse over time until it will almost never work regardless of the position.

I'm guessing the quote from Canon would be around $140 to $160.
