Those sculptures are very interesting.

They certainly are an original effort...

It looks like a lot of work.

... they have little commandos of gardeners, mostly young people, who give quite a show of eagerness running around while the old(er) hands go about working at solitary tasks, affecting a much calmer demeanour.

I was taking lots of pictures of roses with my 55-250mm IS lens at a similar focal length as I see with your image. But lately I think the 18-55mm IS lens works better.

I've found that F13 and around 35mm does really well, to provide a sharp rose.

I like the idea of using a normal focal length; I'll try it. Distance from the subject will also matter a lot I guess. Big roses, small ones and group of the have different requirements, I expect, which may entail that different apertures will be needed...

I am looking for simple assignments which would allow me to learn at my pace. Flower photography seemed such a simple one while it really is a new challenge at every shots. Sharpness, and blurriness of the surroundings, for example, surely is a problem with roses. Sometimes they are quite big objects or they form and interesting group of smaller ones which, in both cases, require a fair amount of depth of field. Unfortunately twigs and leaves that are all around and at a similar distance quite often will come too much in focus for my taste.

I've have to take some more at that aperture and focal length and see what I can get.

Would you let me see the results ?

Thanks for sharing.
